Elwood-Gettys Announces Plated Servo Motor for Harsh Environments

Racine, WI — Elwood-Gettys announced today the release of their new "plated" servo motors designed for use in harsh environments. Elwood-Gettys' SP-Series Servo Motors address the Meat, Dairy, and Pharmaceutical Industry's unique need for high performance motors in an easy-to-clean package, capable of withstanding repeated chlorine-based high pressure wash downs.

The IP66 sealed motors utilize a smooth, finless housing with an FDA-and USDA-approved aluminum oxide coating infused with a PTFE polymer. The aluminum oxide provides superior corrosion protection against the affects of chlorine and other caustic chemicals, while the PTFE creates a non-stick finish. The end result is an adherent-free motor package resistant to acids and alkalis having a pH ranging from 3 to 12. Alternatively, the motors can be polished and plated with electro-less nickel. For less stringent applications, an FDA-approved white epoxy coating is available.

The Servo Motors are available in 5 frame sizes, from 2" to 7" square. NEMA 23 and 34 Stepper Motor versions are also available.
