Severe Duty motors from Elwood-Gettys are a lower-cost, higher performance alternative to All-Stainless motor designs. Sever Duty motors conform to IP66 guidelines for complete protection against dust, strong jets of water and the effects of immersion.
SD Series motors utilize a smooth, finless aluminum housing for maximum thermal efficiency, that is hard coated to protect against corrosion. All other external components are stainless steel. Every effort has been made to minimize cracks and crevices including the use of a one-piece motor winding/feedback housing. A non-contact stainless shaft seal provides maintenance-free protection against moisture intrusion around the shaft opening.
